Being on a low buy has really had me looking at my collection lately, and becoming more familiar with the products I already have. I chose some staple products for this month's favorites, partially because I don't have a lot of "new new" to pick from, and partially because I feel favorites should be repeat, staple products. I have a couple kinda new products in this month's picks though, so that's a little exciting! (I won't deny that I love the rush of getting a package full of new goodies in the mail.)

February Empties & Reverse Rouge Check In
February is over, meaning I get to purge last month's trash! I used up a bunch of products this month, I'm pretty proud of myself. I still have a huge backlog, but every little bit helps! There's a good mix of makeup, skincare, and haircare this month. I've also got my totals towards the Reverse Rouge Challenge further on in this post!

Recent Repurchases
I love new product hauls, but I also love seeing what products people come back to time and time again. This is a bunch of products I've repurchased recently (thanks, Ulta points!) and a little bit about why I love each one.

March 2017 Favorites!
Getting back into the swing of things - only a month late typing this up! (I've had the photo for ages though...) Let's just get to it!

Recent Repurchases
As much as I love buying a ton of NEW stuff, I get a lot of satisfaction from repurchasing items. It means I've finished something, and I don't have to think about finding a new product to fill a hole in my stash. A lot of my staples are skincare, as I go through that much more than I do any makeup products. Here's a few of my recent repurchases!

February 2016 Favorites
Happy Leap Day! Another month over, which means another month of favorite products!
- Haus of Gloi Body Emulsion - Haus of Gloi is somewhat known for their pumpkin butter, which is available in their seasonal scents as well as general catalogue scents. However, I prefer their lighter body emulsion. The lotion, though light, is still very moisturizing and absorbs quickly. My bottle is labeled with their unscented version, but it's actually First Blush - my favorite Haus Valentine's collection scent! I dumped a sample vial of perfume oil into the lotion and shook it up, and it came out perfectly! I'll definitely be doing this with other scents I need a lotion of.
- MAC Face and Body foundation - I'm not trying to brag, but my skin has been really good lately. Like, really good. So I decided to pick up a lighter foundation to just help with any light redness that may come up, instead of using it to cover imperfections. MAC Face and Body is very, very light coverage - exactly what I was looking for. It's very liquidy and applies easily using a beautyblender. The coverage is buildable, and since it's so light, it doesn't get cakey. I've really enjoyed using it, although sometimes I need to mix in a bit of liquid highlighter since it can be a little flat.
- My Scheming Mandelic Acid sheet mask - My first My Scheming mask - I received this as a gift from a friend, it didn't work out for her. Her loss is my gain, because I LOVE this mask! My skin is so hydrated and BRIGHT after using this, not to mention free of redness! The mask is silk and so clingy, it fits very well. They're a bit fragile but I am excited to see what other masks My Scheming has to offer! (I may or may not have ordered a sampler set - whoops!)
- Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in I524 (Pinky Beige) - Since I'm really boring, I tend to do the same eye look a lot - warmish smokey eye with a shimmery lid. I'm always looking for new shimmery lid shades, and I picked up this one this month and love it! I'm a huge fan of the MUFE Artist formula, they're wonderfully pigmented and blendable. This shade has an iridescent finish, and looks wonderful alone or layered on top of a matte shadow for a bit more sparkle. I apply this with a flat brush just in case there's some sparkle fallout.
- Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask - This mask...I hate that I love it. I hate it because it's ridiculously expensive ($52!) for something you put on your face at night and gets rubbed all into your pillow. I love that it was gifted to me - I couldn't spend that type of money on this sort of thing. But what I love the most about it is how soft and radiant my skin is in the morning. I know that there's a ton of skincare out there that works just as well as high end stuff for cheap...but this sleeping mask is the real deal. It's light yet very moisturizing - it sinks in to my skin quickly which means less mask on the pillow. It's scented - lightly floral - but not overly so. (Unlike the Too Cool For School sleeping pack...) I mentioned that my skin has been looking super great lately, and I don't want to credit this...but I recently started using it nightly and the effects are there.
A lot of focus on my skin this month! It's really paid off - I'm enjoying makeup even more now that I have a beautiful canvas to work with! Hopefully March brings more spring-y colors to next month's favorites.

August 2015 Favorites!
This past month I've really been trying to focus on my skin, and the products I've been reaching for a lot reflect that. Since it's been so humid out, I figured I might as well roll with dewy skin - no way I was staying matte!
- YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation - I love this foundation for many reasons. It applies beautifully, smells so nice, and looks like skin! The downside is that it isn't cheap. ($57 for 1 oz.) The coverage is sheer, but can be built up a little bit for more coverage and still not look cakey. For reference, I use two pumps of shade B20 mixed with a pump of B10.
- Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Moonstone - Can I just say that I love the smaller size squeezy tube? Becca also offers this in a pump bottle that's about the size of a foundation. Moonstone is a wonderful pale gold that is the right mix of glow and sparkle. It isn't full on GLITTER, and is great for the cheekbones, cupids bow, and brow highlight. I like to apply this right on top of my foundation for the most natural effect.
- Becca Beach Tint in Fig - I have this in a mini version from a Beach Tint duo I picked up a while ago, but I will end up buying the full size when this is out. The Beach Tints have a nice scent, and can be applied over foundation to give a subtle wash of color, or can be built up for a more defined cheek. I like to use a light wash of color to achieve a natural shade that sinks into the skin.
- MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom - I've had this eyeshadow for ages, and it's lasted so long because I really only use it as an inner corner or brow highlight. This shadow is great to add a subtle wash of shimmer that doesn't scream HIGHLIGHT!
- Kat von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown - I've been loving brown liner lately, and I love the KvD Tattoo Liners! I've used this for wings, or just to get a close line by the lashline to emphasize my eyes a bit. This liner is great for summer humidity because it just doesn't budge. I also like the fact that brown is a little more natural on me than a black liner, so it isn't as harsh.
Now that fall is coming, I can't wear to break out my darker lipsticks and dramatic eye products. Can't wait to see what I'll reaching for in September!

MAC Whirl Lipstick - Review
For the past few months, MAC Whirl lipliner has been tough to find. It was touted as the key to a perfect Kylie Jenner lip, and people were buying it like crazy. MAC must have gotten the memo, because with their new lineup of matte lipsticks, they included Whirl in the mix.
Whirl is described as a "dirty rose," with a matte finish. The shade is a balance between a pinky nude and a light brown. The lipstick applies smoothly, much more smoothly than you'd think for a matte finish, and did not tug or drag on the lips. The lipstick has the classic MAC vanilla scent. Due to the fact that this has a matte finish, I paired it with MAC Prep and Prime Lip. I found the formula to be lightly hydrating, and non drying - but this could be the primer at play. I did not use a lip liner, and experienced no bleeding or feathering. There was transfer, not super crazy all gone transfer, but a typical lip print was left on a cup. After eating, the lipstick needed to be reapplied, and left no stain.
The Matte finish of this lipstick differs from the Retro Matte that MAC also offers in that it is not as drying. I have found the Retro Matte to be much more difficult to apply, and harsher on the lips. The end finish of the regular Matte is mostly matte, you may have a slightly demi-matte finish if you do not completely blot it down, but it is not that "oh my god my lips are the Sahara" matte you get with the Retro Matte finish.
Pros:
- Smooth application
- Non drying
- No bleeding or feathering
Cons:
- Noticeable scent
- Demi-matte, must be blotted
- Transfers
- Does not stain, will need to be reapplied after eating

MAC lipstick in Fusion Pink - Review
So last week, I blogged about my first Back 2 MAC experience, and I picked up the shade Fusion Pink for free. I finally got around to wearing it (I say finally, but it's been what, a week?) so here are my thoughts!
Fusion Pink is described as a "bright pink" and is apart of the Amplified Creme finish family. Fusion Pink is indeed a bright pink with warm undertones, and it has a pearly iridescence to it that keeps it from being a flat shade. However, it does not turn frosty, which was a concern. The application was smooth and the formula is slightly sheer yet still pretty pigmented, which should be a given considering the Amplified finish. You still get full color with one swipe. When applying, there is a definite scent to the lipstick, the traditional MAC vanilla mixed with the scent of lipstick, but it fades away. The wear is quite comfortable. I paired this with no lip liner, and did not experience any bleeding or feathering. I also paired this with my trusty MAC Prep and Prime lip. I did, however, experience some color gathering into the lip lines, as well as some highlighted flakes on my lips. I didn't experience the formula to be overly drying, however.
I wound up needing to reapply later in the day, as the lipstick was transferring onto my cup, even after blotting. The formula has a definite amount of slip, most likely due to the Creme portion of the Amplified Creme finish. This isn't the longest wearing MAC lipstick I have, but a lot of the issues such as the product collecting into the lip lines can be fixed by pressing the lips together. I like that I was able to put it on without a lip liner.
Pros:
MAC lipstick in Fusion Pink - $16.00 for 0.1 oz

My First Back2Mac!
Nothing feels better than finishing a makeup product. I love the accomplished feeling of using up something I purchased. The Back2MAC program rewards that, in addition to helping recycle the packaging the products come in. You bring in six MAC empties (the best part - false lash cases count, too!) and you can exchange them for a lipstick or an eyeshadow! (Viva Glam is exempt, since all proceeds go towards a wonderful cause, and you should be purchasing those.) I've been hoarding my MAC empties, and I finally had enough for my first Back2MAC!
While I was going swatch happy, a Sales Associate asked if I needed help. I said I was going to be turning in some empties, and she checked to make sure they were all eligible while I swatched. She offered to have me try on any lipsticks, and I declined - I have a good idea of what will and what won't work for my by now. In the end I settled on Fusion Pink. The Sales Associate pulled it from the drawer, discarded the box, and marked the bottom of the bullet so that it can't be turned in again for another Back2MAC - which I supposed is fair.
It was nice to be able to pick up a new lipstick without spending any money, in addition to being rewarded to finishing a bunch of products. With the rate that I go through Fix+ and Prep and Prime Lip, I'll be sure to be cashing in more empties soon!

Here's my batch of empties. I have a Fix+, two Pro Longwear foundations, a Prep and Prime pressed powder, a Prep and Prime Lip (I SWORE I had another around my house! Ugh!) and a Rapidblack pen liner that is freaking ancient BUT I SAVED IT!
I was originally going to look for another Kylie Jenneresque nude and maybe pick up the shade Brave, but then I started swatching hot pinks and couldn't stop. Some of the shades here are Fusion Pink, Candy Yum Yum, Show Orchid, Impassioned (which I own, but I wanted to make sure I didn't dupe it!) Girl About Town, Full Fuchsia...I had a good time swatching.

March 2015 Favorites!
End of another month already! It's time for my March favorites...this time I've included a bath/body product to mix it up a bit.
1. Nivea In Shower Body Lotion - On the recommendation of a few reddit friends, I picked up this in shower lotion from Nivea, and I am in LOVE. This winter has been especially bad for my skin concerning post shower dryness, and I have been going through a ton of body lotion. This makes life a lot easier, especially getting the small of the back that is hard to get by yourself! There are several formulas as well, for normal to extra-dry skin. I will definitely be keeping this in my shower for a long time to come.
2. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer - I don't know how I haven't picked my go-to concealer for a Favorites post yet. I love the Radiant Creamy Concealer (RCC for short!) and I use it for everything - blemishes, under eyes, and covering any extra redness. I find that it is the perfect consistency of a little creamy but not too thick, buildable but not coming out cakey. The only letdown is that there's a very limited shade range for this concealer. (I use Vanilla.)
3. MAC lipstick in Viva Glam Miley Cyrus - When this was announced, I didn't really think twice about it, owing to my large collection of pink lipsticks. However, I received it as a birthday gift from some friends, and it looks fantastic on me! It's an amplified finish hot pink, a little bit darker than the photo shown here. Of course, all proceeds go to an excellent cause, which is another great gift from my friends.
4. Becca Ever Matte Poreless Perfecting Primer - Another one of my go to products. When Becca says matte, they mean MATTE. I wear this primer and at the end of the day, I may end up with a satin finish on my foundation, and that's a big may. I know the application may be tricky for some, but my best advice would be to get a sample if you can, and try warming it up on your fingertips and try patting it on to areas that are extra oily during the day, and then blending out with a patting motion from there. Be sure your moisturizer and SPF have fully sunken in before applying the primer.
5. By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon - This was another gift from my friends, and I was floored when I received it! Ombre Blackstars are a new favorite product of mine, and Bronze Moon is a lovely addition to my collection. These cream shadow sticks blend beautifully, and they are gorgeous just worn alone and blended out. My new quick eye look is taking a Bronze Moon to the lid, blending out to the crease, adding more product to the lid, and adding a little liner and mascara for a quick, subtle daytime smokey eye.

December 2014 Favorites
Happy New Year!! Here's hoping 2015 is your most beautiful year yet! To kick off the new year, I wanted to wrap up December's favorites. This month I'm featuring a lot of my everyday products - why not, they wound up being good enough for every day use!
1. MAC Fix+ Spray - I use Fix+ as my second to last step to help settle and "melt" all of the makeup on my face together. It also helps to create a less powdery look, especially if you're like me and like to load on the finishing powders. (Well not load on. Layer them, more like.) I use this right before my setting spray, since I consider this to be more of a "finishing" spray than a setting spray. I just finished up my first bottle of it, that I've used pretty much daily since the end of May - not bad! One or two spritzes does the trick. Fix+ can also be used with loose shadows to change the texture and help them stay longer! There's a small size that you can pick up before committing to the large size, but I say get the large one right off the bat!
2. Inglot eyeshadow #353 - This is my Holy Grail base shadow. I apply my eye primer, and then a wash of this eyeshadow to help anything else I put on to blend more easily. I picked up this shade after I kept reaching for W.O.S. from the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette, and I recommend this out to everyone who says they're about to hit pan on that shade in their palette. For $7, you get a huge pan.
3. House of Lashes false lashes in Au Naturale - I know I recently reviewed these, raved about them then, but here they are! I really do love these lashes. They look perfectly natural on me, and are a dream to wear and apply. The price tag is a bit steep ($9!) but House of Lashes frequently has sales, and has a three pack deal for $22. Since these are higher quality lashes, they handle reuse a bit better than drugstore lashes. I can even wear these with little to no eyeliner and still look great, thanks to the thin, clear band.
4. Inglot gel eyeliner #77 - I picked this up on Black Friday, since my old black gel liner was starting to dry up. I had heard that this was a great black gel, but wow! I'm definitely hooked! The formula is super smooth, very pigmented and dark, and very easy to work with. A bit softer of a formula than what I am used to, but I really, really dig it. From someone who wears winged eyeliner almost daily, this is a must have. The tub is huge, so I suspect it may dry out before I get to finish it, but the price is much less than what I was paying before, so I think I will live. (It's $11-12 depending on where you buy.)
5. NYX Honey Dew Me Up primer - This was a new addition to the NYX lineup that came out earlier this year. I have been reaching for it more often, over my mattifying primers, since the air is dryer and I'm not trying to suck all the moisture out of my face. The primer has gold flecks in it, similar to other certain higher end primers that have gold flecks (~Guerlain~) The primer is moisturizing upon application, and has a scent to it that fades. I don't know if the gold flecks do much of anything, but they look cool in the bottle. A little goes a long way, and I find that this primer agrees with the rest of my face makeup. When paired with a mattifying setting powder, I find that I have a mostly 'satin' look by the end of the day - nothing overly greasy, but not super matte.

November 2014 Favorites
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you are in the US - and if not, I apologize for the long absence! I'm back with my favorite items for November. A lot of these are my go-to items, which I can't believe I haven't added to a favorites list yet!
1. House of Lashes eyelash adhesive - I've been wearing falsies on a daily basis for the better part of a year now, but I had yet to make the plunge into using this glue. I got it a couple of weeks ago, and now I don't know how I'm going to do without it! It dries to be 100% clear, which is perfect! The other glue I was using was clear-ish, which was okay, but not perfect. This also has a brush applicator, which really helps with messiness and cutting down on getting glue everywhere. It also gets to the right tackiness pretty quickly. I'm really happy with this! It's also iridescent somehow, and looks pretty cool!
2. Maybelline Dream Wonder liquid foundation - I wear this in a lot of my posted 'FOTD' posts. This came out back in June, I believe, and was supposed to be a drugstore 'dupe' of Armani Luminous Silk foundation. Now, never having tried the Armani foundation, I still really like the Maybelline! I experience minimal oiliness, and the foundation stays put when set with powder. I apply using a beauty blender, and the application isn't patchy or anything. I was able to find a good color match within the line, but I hope they come out with a wider range of shades, as it's a bit limited right now.
3. MAC Prep and Prime lip - I love this lip primer, I put it on under every lip product, even gloss. It's moisturizing, easy to apply, and gets the job done. It has no scent, which is an added bonus, as companies LOVE to add scent to lip products for whatever reason. It's also clear, so it won't distort the color of any of your lip products, though some people may want a product like MAC Lip Erase. I may look into other lip primers in the future just to broaden my horizons, but I always recommend this one to those in need of a good primer.
4. Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade - I use the shade Dark Brown, which I chose to picture here. I love this stuff! Anastasia debuted this product the beginning of this year, and it's become a staple in my routine. I use it either alone or paired with brow wiz, and it's super versatile! I can create a power brow, or a natural looking brow, just with this product. And the best part is that it doesn't budge! There is a bit of a learning curve with it, since you need to learn how much product you need to use to get the desired look. I use this with the Anastasia #12 brush, but any stiff angled brush would work, preferably a synthetic bristle brush. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to diversify their brow game!
5. NYX Baked Blush in Sugar Mama - NYX also came out with their Baked Blushes earlier this year, and it's a really great product. I have a couple of these, but I always reach for Sugar Mama if I need something soft that goes with mostly everything. Sugar Mama is a soft peachy color with a bit of sheen, and it adds a bit of glow to the cheek as well as color. The blush is nicely pigmented, but also buildable without getting clownish. I find that though it does have some shimmer, it isn't overly noticeable, so you can still add a highlight without turning into a disco ball. Definitely look into this line, if not this shade specifically!

Happy (FOTD) Friday! Another glitter look today - this time I used the glitter as a liner to punch up a neutral eye.

FOTD - 09.12.14
In an effort to try and spend less money, I am going through my stash and trying to wear some things I haven't even really worn (that's just so terrible, there's actually lot...) and get some more use out of lesser-loved items. This week I've been playing with my Lit Cosmetics glitters! I decided to use one today as well.
